Character: Kyon.

Series: Anime: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya; The Suzumiya light novels 1-8

Version: The Anime, just after episode six. (Chronologically. Broadcasted it would be the last episode)

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Straight and slightly Homophobic.

Appearance: Kyon is as normal as normal can be, in appearance at least. He has nothing incredibly remarkable to him; no scars, no deformities, not even cool obscurely colored hair. He's stuck as he is.

Kyon is fairly tall for his age and comes to about 5'8''. His face, also despite his age, is very mature looking as well. His eyes often carry a sort of tired look, and he tends to give off a very apathetic facial expression. His hair is a light brown as are his eyes.

For clothes, he's mostly seen wearing his school uniform. It's a simple blue-green blazer with a plain white shirt, red tie, and kaki pants. If he decides on anything else, it's usually just an easy casual dress.

Personality: Kyon is a fairly calm and easy going guy at first glance. Though he's usually is pretty good at keeping his cool and limiting his outbursts to his mind, he can easily come off as snarky and apathetic.

When it comes to Haruhi, he has an unusually high tolerance for her actions and schemes regardless of how that's possible. He sometimes, rather than going along COMPLETELY with her shenanigans, tries to find a way to make her learn that she can't always get her way. Not that it always works though.

Among his group back home, Kyon was the sole voice of reason, and he's very good at pointing out simple explanations for otherwise difficult situations.

Abilities/Weaponry: Kyon is human, utterly and completely human. This means that Kyon has no more strength, speed, or agility than an average fifteen year old boy.

But since Kyon lacks such a great deal in the physical area, he makes up for in other fields. First, Kyon isn't naïve in the slightest form. Having the sort of out look he does on his life has wiped that possibility clean out. Next, Kyon is also a severe skeptic on certain subjects, more in particular the occult. This basically means that it's VERY hard to trick Kyon.

Weaknesses: Mentioned before, Kyon is human; therefore Kyon is severely limited in the physical sense. Since he possesses nothing above the average for a fifteen year old boy, we can assume that if Kyon were to get into a fight, he wouldn't last very long.

This doesn't mean that he wouldn't fight back, just that he's not walking away without severe pain.

Another weakness would be Kyon's somewhat unstable mental state. Despite the fact that Kyon puts up a very cool, calm outer appearance, some of the things he's gone through in the last few weeks have left him more or less questioning his reality. This also is the root of some of his paranoia.

History: Growing up, Kyon was like most other kids. He had wild dreams of the unknown. He enjoyed every thing fictional and mysterious and would sometimes loose himself in this world.

But, also like other kids, he began to grow out of this fantasy. As he went on in years, he became frighteningly aware that everything he had believed in as a child was nothing more that just that, a fantasy.

It was no real life shattering experience that led him to this conclusion. It was more or less of an awakening. One day, while he was in the sixth grade, it suddenly hit him like a cold bucket of water in the face.

Things like Aliens, Time Travelers, and Espers...didn't exist.

This realization came to him bitterly, but Kyon forced himself to deal with it. He moved on and focused his life on what he deemed 'more important': the future. Thus, he left his old dreams as distant memories and worked his way through the rest of Junior High. Kyon's hard work paid off finally when he was accepted into North High School. With high aspirations, he walked into that school

What he got was Haruhi.

On his first day of school, after it was his turn to introduce himself to his future peers, Haruhi stood up (Having the seat behind him) and point blank announced that "Normal humans don't interest me, if there are any Aliens, Time Travelers, or Espers with us, come join me." And that was all. She sat down and the class went silent. Kyon looked behind him and promptly stared at her like she had grown a third head.

Still, what she had said, jarred him, and yet drew his interest. Who was this girl, to actually believe in things like this? It drove him batty.

So, he got to know her. Everyday he would turn around in his desk seat and start up conversations with her. He would ask her questions, sometimes personal, and she would answer. It was the strangest game of Q & A imaginable.

One day, a week or two after Kyon started his morning conversations with the mysterious girl; she came to school rather disgruntled. He asked her what her problem was and she claimed that she joined every single club in the school and came to the conclusion that they were all nothing but total bores.

Kyon felt like rolling his eyes. Then, more sarcastic than anything, he told her to make her own club.

This is a remark Kyon now repeatedly hits himself for making, because she did in fact make her own club. She proudly named it the S.O.S Brigade and made Kyon the unlucky first member.

Although in her defense, Kyon could have easily said "No" and went on about his business, but he didn't. Whether it was curiosity, a secret crush, or perhaps that Kyon secretly longs to be able to believe in fantasy like she does that he decided to go along with her, we'll never know.

So thus, Kyon became Haruhi's partner in crime. By this we mean Kyon got stuck doing most of the dirty work for their club including the building of their club website, and doing a majority of the research for their schemes.

Fortunately for Kyon, though, he wasn't alone in this club. As Haruhi was still making the outlines for the club on her drawing board she'd already acquired two other members. Nagato Yuki who was in the room Haruhi stole for the Brigade. Being the only member of the club the room was originally for, she merely just came as a packaged bonus. She didn't seem bothered so long as she could still read. The second member, Asahina Mikuru, Haruhi quite literally kidnapped from the halls and forced her to join on the sole reason that she had large breasts. She was to be the mascot.

Kyon didn't argue too much, she was cute. Blame teenaged male hormones.

With four members to the club, they were still short by one to be considered an official school club. Haruhi was dead set on the idea that he or she should be a mysterious transfer student.

Lo and behold, almost a day later, their mysterious transfer student rolled into town and with the final member of their club, a boy named Koizumi Itsuki, Kyon's normal life ceased to exist.

It started simply enough, Kyon merely thought it was some prank being played on him by the others. Over the next few days, each of the other members of the club singled him out and told him something otherworldly.

First, it was Nagato, who took him to her house and told him in fewer words, that she was an alien. Then she began to prattle on about things that Kyon hadn't a clue about.

Not to long after words, Asahina did the same. She got him alone, and told him that she was from the Future- A time traveler, and then she also began a long winded explanation.

Finally, after the last two, Kyon was waiting for Itsuki's turn. It came soon enough, and he informed Kyon that he was an Esper - more or less, a psychic. This time Kyon got a slightly easier explanation.

Putting them all together, and he got basically the same story each time and it all came down to three things: They were all here to study Haruhi, Haruhi possessed powers akin to that of a God, and she wasn't aloud to know that she could create, alter, or shatter reality as they knew it.

What was worse was that they were all putting it on him. Somehow, that fateful decision he made to actually talk to Haruhi, had caused a great deal of unbalance in her stability and that if provoked enough she could destroy the world in an instant. Thus, making him responsible for anything she may unintentionally do.

Kyon thought they were all on crack.

He refused to believe that such things were real and that somehow he'd gotten dragged into protecting the world.

One by one, Kyon was proved wrong.

First, Nagato saved him from a rampaging student with a bowie knife, revealed to be an alien as well. This student had gotten him alone after school, pulled him into an alternate pocket dimension, and was inches from gutting him with the knife. Nagato showed up at the last moment, caught the knife with her bare hands and began to fight her back. The battle between the two was vicious and ended with Nagato the victor, but not without withstanding great injuries from several steel rods going through her body. Kyon, afraid that Nagato was going to die, and that they would be trapped there forever, got the shock of his high school life as he watched the dimension vanish, the classroom reconstruct itself and Nagato's wounds suddenly heal.

There was no denying the authenticity of that.

Having barely recovered from that shock, Kyon got another note to meet someone alone. He was starting to wonder if this was beginning to become some sort of trend. He dropped his complaint when he saw it was signed by none other than his lovely Asahina-san. (Rather, that's what she was in his mind anyways)

He met her in the clubroom. Only, something was different. Not only was she know at his eye level, but she appeared to look at the least, five years older than the Asahina he saw earlier that day. She told him that she was in a more distant future than the Asahina he knew and that she had come (bending several laws of time traveling in the process) to give him an important message. She told him that not long from now, something catastrophic and monumental will happen, and that Haruhi will be with him. She didn't give him much more of the details, but she did leave him with the statements: "Remember the story of Snow White." And, "Don't get too close to me". Then she left the room.

Baffled by Asahina's eerie message, Kyon left school with Haruhi. She insisted on him coming with her to investigate the sudden disappearance of the very classmate that had tried to kill him a day ago. (The story was that she had transferred to Canada. But only Nagato and Kyon knew what really happened)

When he finally got home, Koizumi was waiting for him. He told him that he had somewhere to take him, and that he was going to show him proof of his abilities.

Kyon reluctantly took the taxi ride with him, and suffered a barrage of philosophical speeches and theories on Haruhi's power. Once the cab stopped and they got out, Koizumi took Kyon to what he explained as "closed space". It was a dimension similar to the one he was trapped in from the day before. The difference was that this one was created by Haruhi, without her knowing, and it was to keep fifty story-sized monsters from wreaking havoc on the real world.

These monsters were the mental instability that Kyon was responsible for.

Suddenly he saw Koizumi rise into the air, glow red, and fly off towards the monster. Several other red blowing balls of light joined in and in seconds the monster reduced to nothing. Koizumi flew back and smiled at him as if it were nothing at all. The 'closed space' shattered and Kyon was brought back to the real world.

After this, Kyon could no longer deny what was going on around him. He was in this story rather he liked it or not.

Despite this world shattering event, Kyon did his best to not go completely insane. He resumed living his life the best he could until another wrench was thrown in.

After a frustrating day with Haruhi, who was in a fouler mood then usual, Kyon stumbled into bed hoping to get some decent rest.

When he was startled out of sleep by Haruhi, he found that he wasn't anywhere near his bed anymore. He was at school, fully dressed in his school uniform, and from the color of the sky, they were trapped in a closed space.

Kyon, being the one of the two to have any experience with this sort of thing, led Haruhi by the hand to find what they could about their situation. After realizing they couldn't go any further than the school's campus they headed to the S.O.S. Brigades club room. Haruhi made a decision to go look around and ordered Kyon to stay put, after she left Kyon noticed a glowing red dot right outside the room's window. Koizumi had made contact with them. He informed him that the world they were in was coming to an abrupt end. Haruhi was tired of the world being dull and she was creating a new one from scratch.

She only chose Kyon and herself to remain the same and come into the new world.

As Koizumi's form began to fade, Kyon asked if there was anyway to stop her, or for her to change her mind. His answer was only if Haruhi wills it. Just before Koizumi vanished he told Kyon to check the computer.

Nagato had left him a message: "Sleeping Beauty"

Just as the computer died, a blinding light shined through the window behind him. Haruhi came bursting back in the door shouting "Something's here!" with the brightest smile he'd ever seen on her face.

Something had come, alright.

Kyon grabbed her hand and flew out of the room as a giant hand punched its way through. Those fifty-storied monsters had found their way to them.

Kyon and Haruhi escaped from the school in time for it to collapse and for the monster to start its way over to them. Running as fast as he could, he tried to desperately reason with Haruhi. She wasn't aware she was the cause of all this, but he had to try something.

Finally Haruhi became frustrated with him and stepped on the brakes, tearing from his grasp. Kyon stopped and looked at her. She told him she thought that he was tired of the world, too. She didn't understand what his problem was.

Kyon once again tried to reason with her, but he could see that there were now several monsters on their way to them, he didn't have a lot of time. He looked back to her and suddenly it clicked. The two hints that he'd gotten earlier made sense.

Before Haruhi could protest, Kyon bent down and kissed her straight in the lips. It was a complete long shot, but he wasn't sure what else to do. If this worked like it did in the two stories, then he should have been waking up right now.

The scene went white and he felt the entire world collapse into them.

Then he felt his back hit something soft. He opened his eyes and found nothing but blue sky.
